didn't the 9/11 hijackers all have real, that right legit, licenses from various states? why not make a standard ID with standard requirements that everyone can recognize. the government has its problems, but lets avoid the microsoft syndrome and lambaste everything they do.

You must resist this. The National ID act (REAL ID) must not past. People need to be willing to go to not carry one of these cards and accept whatever consequences come their way. Personally, if the issue comes to it, I will be in prison for refusing to allow the government to take away my privacy.
