Apparently PBS wants to focus more on teaching kids how to read instead of inspiring them to read. Yeah, TV teaching kids how to read... like that's not a conflict of interest.

And the dumb thing is, teaching someone to read is NOT THAT HARD when they are young. It is more important to foster the love of reading than worry about the trivial task of teaching them how to read.

Kids naturally have a great desire to read, therefore it is a great help to show or teach them how to read so that their reading is effective.
Sometimes it also matters what kids should read.
