"1 is they want to get rid of voip, and 2 is they want google (ect, ect) to pay for the bandwidth it uses."I can see why they want to get rid of VOIP, it cuts directly into their business model. Unfortunately for them, it's not the government's job to help them remain profitable when their business plan turns out to be a dud.As far as Google, I pay my internet bill every month, and Google pays for their connectivity every month. Again, it's not the government's job to intervene to insure corporate profits. If they want to overcharge somebody, overcharge spammers. Last I heard, spam messages took up the lion's share of bandwidth.

Just ask yourself this: What is more likely to come to a resolution of some sort within the next 6 months to a year? Nuclear armaments? Starvation? Disease? No more oil? or Telecom charges based on the type of content and where it comes from? This particular event has the capability to cripple the development of almost innumerable companies, concepts, sites, etc. If someone else has any info on how to end world hunger in the next year believe me it would be bigger than this. But for right now, its not.

Better Google than the US Government, or AT&T, or Verizon, or any number of corporations at this point.

Competition will keep some part of net neutrality at-bay. If I were to find out (for example) my broaband provider was slowing down my broaband bits slower than the so-called provisioned rates because they want to shake-down the supplier, and it affected me(to the point where I'd notice) I'd switch providers, so it would backfire.. and given telcos position, with 15-30megabit plans, if the difference edged into their so-called guaranteed bits, they could see churn and those $1k+ installtions will be collecting dust.

K, there are WAY TOO MANY of these type of articles on DIGG already. How has anyone missed it? It may not be a "DUPE" since it's a different link, but it's the SAME ol' story as the last 4 that hit the front page already. I think it is a BIG deal too...but why do I want to keep digging the same old DUPED story when nothing's changed yet?
