I would say that the name comes from legend. I own a tea store and have come across many teas with "Monkey King" in the name. I even have one, but its the same as a "Dragon Well" tea; it does not acutely come from a dragon's well. The legend is that in ancient times the tea farmers were looking for exotic plants that grew high up on the rocks. They themselves could not climb up to get the tea, but they noticed monkeys running around up on the cliffs. So the tea Farmers threw rocks at the monkeys, and the monkeys, getting upset, grabbed the tea plants and threw them down at the farmers.
Monkey Picked Oolong...Seems like a cute idea , until you actually think about it!I've had this kind of delicious tea many times. Then I began to wonder...do the monkeys thoroughly wash their hands before picking the tea? Also, are they specially trained to not touch their butts and genitalia, while they are climbing and picking the tea leaves? I don't drink Monkey Picked Oolong any more! I leave it for the people who are so caught up in their pathetic, ego-based fashion fetishes, that they might even drink that gross kind of 'coffee' made from coffee beans retrieved from the sh*t of a Civet cat that swallowed them. (Yes, there actually is such a product!)

At the risk of being sued by a cigarette company, you could use the tagline: "Taste the Monkey".

My boyfriend's father brought some home to us when he went over to China. Monkey Tea tastes like dirty feet water.
