railsenvy.com— Gregg Pollack and Jason Seifer present part 3 in their series of Ruby on Rails commercials done in the style of the Mac vs PC parody videos. This one continues with PHP and is hilarious.

Pretty funny. And Ruby on Rails is a really great project. But this video is a bit unfair to PHP in some ways:Ruby on Rails is an MVC website development framework. PHP is a programming language.PHP has several fully functional MVC frameworks which compelement the Rails framework's features such as the object-relational mapping/routing system (turning URI's into actions) and the scaffolding system (which allows automatic generation of code and templates) and debugging; Cake and Symfony are great examples.PHP doesn't dictate anything about how to develop your application, so embedding SQL statements into an HTML page is purely a programmers decision.
I've never used Ruby on Rails, although I would certainly try it for a date with the cute guy in the video. While this is certainly humorous and PHP by nature does not enforce good programming practice, it's certainly possible to write MVC apps in PHP as well.
You can't compare a framework to a language. They should be comparing Rails to Cake/Symfony/Zend, or Ruby to PHP.Can't php apps use an MVC or an active record pattern? Can't you write ugly code in ruby?Nonetheless, funny video. I just don't think php deserves it as much as java.
