Dany Saadia has finally offered some response, and he claims that the footage was not included in his film "3:19". But he still has not mentioned who animated the footage, or when, and I have never seen any reference to his being an animator or having personally animated anything. Even on his Aniboom profile he has only ever claimed to be a director, yet never given credit to any animator even though he submitted this to an animation contest on an animation website. "3:19" Seems to have been developed from a short, live action film he directed entitled "Genesis 3:19"The semifinalist "16 Tracks" was an art installation created by motion graphics professionals before the contest even began, and featuring a different soundtrack. They apparently find Radiohead music to be arbitrary and interchangable, since they merely slapped a Radiohead song over a re-edit of their previously created footage.The semifinalist "15 step" purported to be created by a single entrant, but it has been discovered was created from characters and settings created by a Japanese animation production company, and it seems all of the animation had been created prior to the contest start.

Also I thought the competition was supposed to be about being inspired by the tracks and fans giving their own personal interpretations of the songs. This isn't possible if you dub music over pre existing footage. The competition really has gone awry. It's such a shame the input and entries have been so diverse and exccellent and the chosen finalists really don't reflect this.

I feel sorry for the animators who were actually inspired by the music and the spirit of the competition, and who submitted original work specifically for Radiohead. They were shamelessly tossed aside for bigger and "better" productions. I thought the whole point of the contest was to bring life to something new - to celebrate the creativity of animators everywhere. Radiohead, I'm sure, can commission any sort of style they want for their music videos, so it's very upsetting to have a contest like this - that was supposed to let animators' originality shine through - totally take advantage of its participants' time and effort if AniBoom was just going to award pre-made, professionally done 'edits' instead. It's also insulting that AniBoom has yet to offer any sort of apology to its community, or statement of any kind for that matter. Where's the love, AniBoom? We animators are a simple folk, but we expect a fair chance and respect for our hard work, something it seems you are not prepared to give. Maybe you should put that in the contest description next time you feel inclined to step on Animator McDoeshisownwork.
