Yes, but nobody pays them.

The article mentions the fact that if they don't enforce internet taxes, they will have to raise certain other taxes. That fact shows the incompetence of our government. There is so much corruption and so much greed that most of our tax dollars end up wasted in bureaucracy. All a government is, is a large business, you need people who know how to run a company, not the idiots we have in charge.

I believe there was something last century that happened similar to what is being proposed...What was it...Oh that's right. Communism. Please vote these mental midgets, Republican and Democrat, out of congress.

infowars.comThis is only an attempt to have a reason to gain control over the internet so they can censor and regulate it!once "they" have control over the internet like "they" have control over mainstream mediaFreedom of speech will be essentially all but eliminated !I Don't think I am being over delirious in saying that "you don't have free speech if your voice is taxed and nobody can hear you"The internet is the ultimate expression of free speech DONT LET THIS HAPPEN, take action write your congressman or state representative, and senator.ACTUALLY DO IT.. everything is at stake here !!

This is how government works. When anything gets popular and everyone starts using it, they find out a way to tax it. Cars (yearly registration, sales tax, gasonline taxes, etc.), telephones (sales tax, federal taxes, spanish-american war tax), and now the internet.

paying taxes on stuff you buy is nothing new. HOWEVER...the main reason i purchase stuff online is because it is cheaper and i do not have to pay tax. Will it hurt e-commerce? It may hurt a select amount but certainly will not hurt all e-commerce.i love how they say that not collecting these taxes could hurt funding for schools and such. We are in so much debt and you would have to be a moron to blame it on the lack of an internet tax.as for taxing e-mail that is ridiculous and no one should put up with it.Soon they will want to tax you for each time you go to the bathroom

At minimum, you people need to email your representatives and tell them to leave the internet alone. This is really about the government taking control of and monitoring internet activity. The government needs to kill free speech on the internet because their lies are being exposed. Remember young people, your parents have handed away freedom to a brutal centralized government and it is up to you to fight back. You will find free America gone in a few years if you don't fight. Nothing the Liberals promise you will compensate for enslavement. Fight for your freedom or live in a 3rd world dictatorship.

So far, no taxes unless the company has a retail store in your state. They should leave it alone, we are taxed enough.http://www.bestbuysus.com/category-search.html

I pay a tax for internet access from my local cable provider which is only feasible high speed supplier in my area. And tax for my cell pone service and it's use. I'm already paying a tax on goods bought over the internet. and i dont really car how i get my milk but i want to choose how i do. Maybe i would buy a bag of milk if I went on a picnic. (If I were Emperor of America I would make it power to make the tremble in awe of it's power. (okay guess that might sounds like it's asking for a flame but it's not. I'm just that cool though. I think the US and Ruskies should team up and crushingly intimidate the whole world with their might..... (ok wait no seriously, I'm dungeonmaster so it's you know..... )))Sorry about the above what I mean to say is "As Emperor of America I promise that every Citizen will be secure in his God-given liberty to keep and bear firearms withouth exclusion, to secure every highway and county road with federal troops, and give each man and woman the option to buy milk in a glass bottle, box of flakes, tin can, plastic jug. or even some kind of decorative reuseable carafe with tastefully designs meant to enhance the desire to stop and enjoy a refreshing cool and fortifying glass of milk in some minor way and to in fact still display missing children on all forms of milk distribution to try to return children to their homesand raise awareness to the problem. I will invite other nations to join the Unity of States, and grant statehood to additional territories. Why? Because I like people. I will in fact likely be ridiculously rich being that I would in fact be an Emperor, but at the end of my term and every politician's tem there would be second vote when someone left office on whether or not to punish them (imprisonment, imporverishment, honorable execution, dishonorable execution) as matters of public affair of state these would be broadcast live and repeated as necessary and available in all broadcast medium.

One good aspect of email tax would be that it would significantly cut back on the spam email out there. However, by taxing email and the internet in general could slow the free growth and development of this idea of the free internet. Maybe imposing a tax on certain businesses that take advantage of spam mail would be appropriate.
