therawfeed.com — The Viktoria Institute in Gothenburg, Sweden, is working on a concept they call Push Music, which is software that enables peer-to-peer connections between music players, enabling people to "browse" the music collections of others and take a copy of whatever they like.

... no this is just what the RIAA wants. i mean whats to stop them from setting up a decoy and then nabbing any one that tries to download from them / allows the RIAA to download something from them. all they would need is a hand full of cams around the perimeter of there range in a low to mid traffic area. you walk in to the trap zone with your player on and they have you crossing in to range on cam just as your player pops up on the network. oh hell ya I'm a paranoid SOB but hay that's what i get for living in America home of the unjust.

This would be incredible. But you're all missing the true application of this: imagine setting up wireless push stations in high pedestrian areas that can push audio advertisements and propaganda to anyone who walks by. Instead of having people hand out flyers outside of subways, you just beam a short audio file to everyone. They think its a song but then they open it and its a 5 second audio ad instead (so you get in all the info you need before they close the file). Ideally, there's a preference system so you can track what kind of ads would best appeal to the particular person, but now you have an advantage in knowing where they are going and sending them ads for nearby points of interest. Of course, groups like the Jehovah's Witness will capitalize on this technology by pushing their beliefs on passerbys. Imagine the effectiveness of sending audio propaganda to kids and the audio coming on their playlist while they sleep--subliminal indoctrination! I guess you can do this with subliminal ads to to convince people of their new favorite burger joint.

"...I guess you can do this with subliminal ads to to convince people of their new favorite burger joint...."Guess all you want, but until advertiseing laws change, it is still illegal to put subliminal messages in any public communication.
