riaa.com — The RIAA has convinced the Senate to try and strong arm the Russians into enacting tougher intellectual property laws... the government couldn't do it with nuclear arms, I wonder what the recording industry is going to aim at them?

allofmp3.com is an awesome source for music IMO and if the riaa takes them down two weeks later allofogg.com will go up again ;)

Just to get a few things across here....1) the RIAA does NOT represent all artists in the country or all companies in the USA2) Under the RIAA listing they divide companies into many subgroups to make them seem larger than they really are see http://www.riaa.com/about/members/default.asp since when is "Family Guy Soundtrack" a company?3) Some of the ones listed are incorporated overseas and therefore are exempt from corporate income taxes in the USA. The most notible ones being Sony (Japan), BMG (Germany) and Virgin (UK)It's easy to get free/dirt cheap music....let's count the ways1) p2p2) allofmp3.com3) libraries...wow try banning those eh...4) copying ones from a libarary or a friends...how can they stop this? The RIAA is being complete and utter morons in terms of pricing. Take any store flyer and look up a movie on DVD and a audio cd...soundtracks for movies cost more than the movies themselves! DVD's can be had for $7 but cd's haven't dropped that much in price...technologywise it's far cheaper to make a cd so what gives?Yes I know musicians I have a friend with one band and a relative in another. You make money in music by going on tour because that's being with the fans...

"What ends up happening is that the whole forest gets burned down when really all you wanted to do is cut down one tree."Actually I wanted to cut industrial size towers and PLANT a forest :)Even if RIAA was a forest, you somtimes have to burn the whole damn thing to ashes before a new, better and thicker forest takes it's place. In the natural world this process can take up to 20+ years, in the information world, RIAA's fall and replacement will be done and over with in under a month...tops. Especially since the "seeds" have already been planted and are ready to burst through (p2p, BT, etc.).
