p2pnet.net — The Big Four record labels are escalating their attack on Patti Santangelo, the New York mother who's so far the only person to stand up to them. And get this, they'll be using her own kids against her in the lawsuit.

I'd donate to the EFF if I wanted to be sure my donation would be well spent fighting the RIAA.Man, in regards to the other story about them saying ripping CDs isn't fair use... I can't think of a single better way for them to hurt their CD sales than to say something stupid like that.CALL your members of Congress people. DONATE to the EFF. Quit your bitching and DO something.

This type of s**t is the whole reason I do not buy music anymore.

The RIAA is going after her like this because they can't AFFORD to lose. All it takes is one loss like this to set a precedent, and any future defendants will know the RIAA doesn't have a case. The RIAA absolutely HAS to win this one... at any cost. And it will be so sweet when they're shown their own asses on a silver platter.

While I hate the RIAA, I also think this woman is a bit of a nob.

"No, suing someone who you can't prove actually committed a crime and then exploiting her children in a court of law all while claiming legitimacy and some kind of moral high ground while you go out and buy a new mercedes off the back of some dumb kid's punk rock band who will never own any of the music they make is wrong. Just plain wrong."OHHHH! You think they're innocent like you huh? Never downloaded a song illegally? Whatever. Plus, if no one would ever own said punk rock bands music, why would people be downloading it illegally?

"They bitch about how much money they're going to lose on pirated music.. how about the "$400/hr" they spend on lawyers..."They're not paying $400/hr. Rather, the lawyers get paid a percentage of what they recover and that is probably exactly why they are being so agressive.
