arstechnica.com— The RIAA agrees to a judgment of $300 after suing a single mother in state-subsidized housing for file-sharing. It's a far cry from the $750 per song the record labels claimed was due them.

The page mentions that the IRA gets about 70cents per track. No wonder it's difficult for budding artists to survive. Smells like a corporate scam to me. Support independent, trustworthy labels. Thats a start.
The operative word in file sharing is "sharing". Try multiplying 70¢ times 1000 illegal downloads made possible "sharing" and you'll find why the high price.
> what if she is a leecher and doesnt share back? (LIKE ME)Leechers should pay an extra fine that should go to the maintainer of the P2P network they were using to download.
I lloved how they originally tried to make it out like you were stealing from the artist if you downloaded music. I think band's make like a dollar and change off of every CD sale.
