slyck.com— The old strategy of suing 800 people at once is gone. Instead the RIAA is looking to be more localized, focused and personal with its new strategy.

Clarification on copyright terms:For works created after 1978, the copyright term is 70 years _after_ the death of the author. 17 U.S.C. § 302(a).For "works made for hire" (if an artist is under contract with a record company), the term is 95 years from when it was first published OR 120 years from when it was created, whichever is first. 17 U.S.C. § 302(c).That's assuming that Congress doesn't extend the term and make it retroactive like they did in 1998. (thanks Sonny Bono!)
I have not given money to the RIAA in 2 years, yet my fiance' and I love to get music. We do this by buying used CDs from local stores and used from Amazon.I buy lots of disks from Metropolis records (not RIAA associated). You still can love music and not give money to those bastards
Well Hitmen kill people. It's just business for them too.I beleive the point I made above is the way they go about their business takes unfair advantage of people in all sorts of ways, despite artists needing to make contracts.

The RIAA is tackling this the wrong way. Instead of trying to punish pirates, they should make people actaully want to buy music.
