They thought they could scare people to stop file sharing. It probably has worked to a small degree, but for the most part its failed. For every person who stopped file sharing, there are probably several people who've boycotted the major labels. I'm one of them.

lol i googled it... i remembered the phrase from my English teacher in high school and had to look up the Latin... all i could remember was the 'est cpuiditas' ... i wish i was a big enough nerd to know latin. Hell i had a hard time in english :)
