@GigaAs SCO found out, it is easy to get into court (just file a complaint). It isn't so easy to get out of court. You can withdraw your own claims. You cannot withdraw the counterclaims filed against you. Those will go on and proceed to trial.The RIAA can attempt to negotiate a settlement. I doubt the other side is in a mood to settle, or at least not to settle on any terms acceptable to the RIAA.

if the RIAA wants to sue file sharing companies, why dont they sue the ISP and the company that made the computer, and the minners that dugg up the raw materials to make the computers. They can also sue the famers that grew the food that user ate for energy etc.

For me i hated the riaa when a rep from them phoned a school pretending to be a young girls relative so they could convince her to go to an office in some building to be interviewed, without informing a parent, it didn't work but it was pretty disgraceful
