torrentfreak.com — Former Dead Kennedy's vocalist Jello Biafra has torn into the RIAA, likening them to the mafia, threatening to leave a horse's head in the beds of old women and children alike, whilst destroying the education of student file-sharers. Don't even get him started on the media: "Goebbels would be proud" he said.

Good job guy, you are 100% right. Up with the independent labels, down with the big labels and RIAA!

I do believe there already is a paradigm shift happening. There are examples of bands that become famous on their own through new mediums. Like OK Go through youtube. One of the biggest music festivals in the US now is Bonnaroo which is full of bands from independent labels. Just because their popularity isn't being noticed by the radio or the billboard top 10 they are still making large headways into mainstream attention. Almost all of the new VW commercials have featured music from Wilco. I've seen commercials featuring Band of Horses and My Morning Jacket as well. Just recently Of Montreal did a commercial for T-Mobile and Outback. Marketing professionals feel their music has some drawing power, I feel it's only a matter of time until real music from real artists becomes a part of the social conscience again.

""You may take from the big labels," he orders, "because the only thing they do is steal from both the artists and the audience." Not many would disagree with you there, Jello." // "The RIAA reminds me most of the Godfather," Biafra says, tipping his head to the side and changing his voice to Marlon Brando mode: "We will sue you. If you want out of this without going to court, we can make an arrangement: Give us $5000. If not, you will find a horses head in your bed." ... a litigious mafia -- yes, an apt analogy ...
