fmqb.com — The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) says that reselling an iPod or MP3 player with music already preloaded on it is illegal. The RIAA is monitoring this means of infringement. Just a warning to all sellers on ebay. And to spread the word in the article also is a lawyer from ebay.

Just a second part to my comment, I beleive it is perfectly legal for you to sell music that you delete your copy of; it is the same thing as selling a used CD. I'm not a lawyer, though, and their may be some special provisions that state otherwise, but it sounds perfectly fine to me.

What doesn't the RIAA ban these days? With all this it's just one more reason NOT to buy there crappy music on a cd.

It is easy to transfer all the contents of an ipod to your harddrive. Step 1) Get iTunes. Step 2) Show hidden files. Step 3) Drag the files *unhidden* from the iPod to some directory on your HD. Step 4) Enable the "Organize Itunes Library" (or whatever) option in iTunes. Step 5) Drag all the files to iTunes. The organize option will create directories as a function of the ID3 tags in the mp3s. Walla!

I will continue to distribute uncopyrighted royalty free tunes as much as I damn well please. As for copyrighted stuff, I fully expect them to put a stop to this.Bunch of frigging whiners... the whole lot of you.

Well, at least not without pissing money into their pockets directly, then bringing them the head of a pirate.
