techdirt.com — Apparently, the lawyers for the RIAA had contacted her [15 year old girl], urging her to testify against the defendants, her employers. Combined with the fact that no other person who testified could recall the defendants ever using the computer to listen to music, it certainly seems to support the story that they did not do so.

The music industry is going to implode. Good riddance.Don't worry about the artists, they'll still be able to make music and tour. It doesn't take $10m to do that. These days, it doesn't even take nearly as much equipment thanks to digital recording hardware and software.Besides, with the music industry corporate mafia out of the way, artists will make even more money by taking in more of the profits directly. All those corporate, talentless scumbags who have been oppressing musicians will wind up in a more suitable place: as dishwashers and toilet cleaners.

The RIAA is like the Gangsters depicted in the old 30's and 40's Hollywood movies..*best Edward G. Robinson voice* .." See, you need to testify that Rocky was listening to download music on his computer...m-yeah..m-yeah... or they'll be trouble see... m-yeah...m-yeah!"This really shows you how corrupt the RIAA business practices are and why not to support them buy purchasing RIAA labeled media and products. When you buy that RIAA related album, you are funding the RIAA's "Bully Practices".*James Cagney* "Ooh you dirty rat, you downloaded music... now I'll have to sue you and blow up your computer with this 'ere grapefruit....!"Yeah see the comparison of the RIAA and the Hollywood Mobsters?

Someone should make a site that crawls google news and other new sites for articles related to the RIAA, reviews them for reliability/import and then puts them in an easy to browse page. It'd be interesting to track what is happening, who is reporting it, and when."that's like I own a knife and someone took it out of the drawer and kilt somebody do´s that make me a murderer"kilt? do's? good times. :)

The RIAA is evil. It happens, particularly in a an unregulated free market economy. Capitalism beats all other economic systems hands down, but the founders of the US never intended for a completely unregulated system. The RIAA represents companies who have not seen competition in decades. Each of these companies has a slice of the entertainment pie that is far too large. Basic economic theory shows that monopolies and oligopolies are not beneficial to consumers. The Music Industry is an oligopoly, it provides the illusion of choice while maintaining many aspects of a monopoly. Consumers lose out (they pay too high a price for music), the artists lose out (making very little off of each album sold) but the record company wins. When you have been lying, cheating, stealing and engaged in unlawful acts for years, nothing is beneath you. This is a group that would threaten to rape your grandmother if it meant they would win. It would be nice if the government put a stop to this, but since the RIAA/MPAA is almost directly linked to the democratic party, and they provide plenty of cash to both parties, congress will refuse to do anything. Money buys power which breeds corruption. The rot and stench of corruption will finely catch up to both parties and the worst of the worst will be thrown out of office. Until then, companies can do as they please.

You cust have to realize that the RIAA isn't some company by itself. It's being funded by other companies. They will keep funding the RIAA until someone gives them a reason to stop. In other words, instead of just not buying CD's from those companies you need to make the entire company suffer. ie don't buy ANYTHING belonging to SONY or any of the other companies. You could quit buying sony music, but as long as you are buying other sony products you are still funding the RIAA. They'll keep giving them money. Make the entire company suffer enough and they'll start taking people seriously.
