quotedb.com — "To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."-- Theodore Roosevelt

Can you tell me what exactly demonstrates that Cheney fears criticism? Please, be very specific and be prepared to cite sources.

EBay has some listings for some soap boxes...oh and "Hollywood actors are the cause for all the turmoil in the middle east"...In other news: The Japanese are responsible for the fall of the Roman Empire.

@soulevent - First you start ranting about how people are bad for name calling, yet then you do the same yourself in the exact same breath. Going on hypocritical tirades will not help you or your cause.

I knew we were in a for a world of hurt (no pun intended), when John McCain, the leading Republican candidate back in 1999 got smacked by the Republican party as they picked _George "the dolt" Bush_ to run against Al Gore for the Presidency.I fled the Republican camp at that point thinking they were a bunch of IDIOTS to try and elect him as a President. Within a few months, I lost all hope in America when the country actually ELECTED THAT DUMBASS as President. That said, George W. Bush has probably actually achieved something while holding the Office of the President. He has either:a) demonstrated what a complete failure can be, and what The United States of America should NEVER, EVER fall for againb) trampled the Constitution to the point that a New American Revolution will have to rewrite the code/Constitution replete with corrections of his failures (Constitution/Bill of Rights v2.0)c) demonstrated that the USA can survive intense strife among pseudo-leadership (having a salesman/failed CEO) as it's commander-in-chiefd) demonstrated what unchecked-capitalism can produce when you let rich people put friends in high places, even though they have ZERO experience in those areas: Michael "Brownie you're doing a heckuva job" Brown/FEMA/New Orleans, Myers/SupremeCourt, Gonzales/Attorney General Firing Scandal/ ad nauseum.. Someone please avoid MySpace, keep a low-public profile, have integrity, learn about your community, your state, and your country, and PLEASE RUN FOR OFFICE.We need to replace BOTH parties if we wish to save our Democratic Republic - the United States of America. The greatest thing that could happen to this country in 2008 would be a BIPARTISAN Presidential ticket: Obama/Guliani? Clinton/Romney?

@reap and @lucas"Republic = citizens vote for representatives who then decide on the issues"You Americans are funny guys! Some of you repeat the mantra "republic, not a democracy" as though they were mutually exclusive, some others deride this and claim that they are not mutually exclusive as a Republic = representative democracy.Look - if that were the case, the United Kingdom would, in fact, be a Republic. They've had a representative democracy WAY before the United States. Unfortunately, there is this little issue of the monarch getting in the way, so it's clear that the definition of Republic needs a little more than just "representative democracy". A Republic means an elected head of state (US, early Rome, NOT UK). A representative democracy means elected congresscritters, senatefolk or parliamentpeople (US, UK). A direct democracy means that an assembly of citizens governs (ancient Athens - suitable really in small communities or city states). A monarchy means a hereditary head of state (UK, late Rome).
