news.bostonherald.com — It was a bizarre, magical request that apparently even cash-strapped Harvard University couldn’t refuse. “It’s a combination of dodge ball, soccer and track,” Rush said about the once-fictitious game, introduced to the world through J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter [website]” novels.

Typical Harvard

It would be hard to resist beating the crap out of anyone dumb enough to play this "game". And I use the word "game" loosely. I really can't believe people get that absorbed with a book/movie series. Especially when the basis is completely fictional and cannot be "played" as intended in a FICTIONAL book. Really makes me sad and angry at the same time....

That video answers most of my questions about this. Thanks for posting.Someone really needs to have a talk with these kids and make them stop. It's actually a little bit painful to watch.

No, it's true, Harvard is broke. How that happens I don't understand, but I bet it's Bernie Madoff's fault.

The article bitches so much about the Golden Snitch. Whoever wrote it obviously doesn't actually know anything about Quidditch as it exists in the world of Harry Potter.Quidditch matches are notorious for having the potential to go on for a ridiculously long time. The longest match ever recorded supposedly lasted three months. That is more than enough time for one team to "accumulate a 15 goal differential" on the other team. It's obviously a different sport when it's played by people IRL, as it would be an impossibility to allow a match to go on for that long. The Snitch isn't so much of an automatic win since they reduced the amount of points that it's worth. To me, it sounds like it would become more of a strategic element for teams knowing when to try and end the game... but if a game of "real" Quidditch went on for long enough, it wouldn't necessarily be an automatic win to catch the Snitch.
