nfl.com — It was over when ... Jay Cutler caught the Jets off guard on third-and-2 in the fourth quarter. With New York's secondary expecting a short passing route, Brandon Stokley was left wide open behind safety Abram Elam for a 36-yard touchdown pass that gave Denver a 34-17 lead with 9:26 remaining.

When there are F1 stories, they blow up. Often 100 comments on just 200-400 Diggs.

Finally we see the team that got those first three wins - and yes bitch about that Refs call vs the Chargers, but a blown call won't get you 4-8.

And FARK.com spun off Foobies - your point being?

@smacksaw"First, you tailor your team to the players you have. They've actually implemented plays from Green Bay that don't even jibe with what the Jets offense actually does. That's a bit odd."While the first sentence is absolutely true, I disagree with the latter statement. Favre's biggest problem was that he was unfamiliar with the Jets offensive system, and that makes him ineffective. Favre's biggest strength is his ability to improvise. If you stick in a couple of plays that Favre's familiar with, and allows him to improvise, he becomes MUCH more effective as a QB. THAT is why the Jets were on an 8-3 run. I'm not seeing anything with the "GB plays" that makes the Jets UTTERLY incompatible with them.I think we agree on the same conclusion, but different cause. I can't picture a player thinking "Oh, I can mail it in, Favre will bail us out if we get into trouble". No REAL player is happy winning by three points when they were leading by 21 points. Its up to the coaching staff to diagnose mental lapse, point it out, and then make the players' life hell until its corrected. I see this weakness more on the defense than the offense. The defense should not be affected one iota by how the offense is doing. The Jet defense is usually allowing scoring once the offense puts up a lead. You don't see these mental lapses on Bellichek coached Patriot teams. They usually look not so talented on paper; but they are extremely well prepared, properly goaded, and NEVER let up when the opponent shows weakness. That is the difference between a dominant football team, and the Houson Oilers. Tuna NEVER let up on a player if he thought the player wasn't correcting his attitude problem. He only "favored" the veterans that never repeated the same mistake. So what's Mangini's excuse for not noticing or correcting the fatal flaw? The fault is not Favre. Even if you blame the players, its the COACHING that is supposed to identify and correct it.I really hated the playcalling in the Denver game. The Jets had 10 days to prepare against what should be a markedly inferior team. It looked as if the Jets treated the game plan like "we didn't have enough time to study an opponent we don't usually see". The Jets have a beefy line of Pro-bowl linemen, while the Denver was tiny and quick (and among the lowest ranked defenses against the run). The Jets could have made every play call a running play and beaten the Broncos. Sure they wouldn't score a point in the first half, but once the defense is broken, you can pretty much run at will against them. Don't get me wrong, I have no understanding why the Jets weren't killing the Broncos over the air, given all the Bronco injuries. But it still illustrates the offensive game plan sucked. It really looked like a "lets get pass-happy and gadgety when we're behind", rather than "You got lucky on our mistakes, we're going to march for two scores, and our DEFENSE is going to SHUT YOU DOWN". The problem with that Jet strength is, if you're doing it in the rain, you're bound to have more failed plays and more turnovers..And you're going to tell me that the Broncos at 6-5 are offensive SB calibre??? The Jets defense should have shut them down. They didn't because the Jets were running schemes that Cutler was quite happy to pick apart. IN THE RAIN.

@TheRedeemer: Chargers beat the Bucs, Broncos lose against the Bills. Next week's game @ Qualcomm decides the division! GO CHARGERS! :-)
