kberg.ch — You can run any Windows OS and any other x86 based OS with Q (based on Qemu) - ontop of your Mac, and in a safe environment ! Best of all: It's 100% Free! Don't get scammed by OpenOSX, which uses Q - but puts a price tag on it!

The install time depends on your CPU... it shouldn't take over 2 hours. It's a Universal binary and you can install Windows XP on the Intel Mac - they just fixed it in the latest test version. You'll need the latest test version to install Windows XP properly. My brother's got it on his PowerBook and really likes it.

Don't want your windows you take 160 mb as soon as is starts in the VM? Look for something called TinyXP (some famous swedish torrent has links for this). It's a hacked version of windows that only takes 60 mb on boot. Quite a ram saver for an emulated environment. Most of the functionality is there, though you have to download firefox, since explorer is out (yay).

Maybe someone can clarify this for me because I've seen it lots of times in lots of places and I'm not sure I get it. It's my understanding that under the GPL you can charge for your software, you just have to give the source code to your customers for free.If you can't get their source obviously they are in violation, but if you can what is wrong with them charging for it? What is the difference between that and say Red Hat's enterprise edition. IMO the reason they can and should be able to charge for free (as in freedom) software is because this allows them to offer better customer support as well as the financial resources to continue working on the software.Sure if you're a guru you can just fix the problem yourself, but most people who use computers aren't guru's. They want and need customer support. Now I don't know if these OpenOSX people even offer the source or the customer support, and if not i'd definately say its a rip off, and probably illegal. But if they do, let the non guru buy from them, and you can go compile qemu yourself =-)

I'm still trying to figure out if this version is in fact using virtualization ala VMWare. My W2K install is going pretty fast on my Intel Mini...

not too much (not at all really.) It's a dark yellow, so it contrasts with the white text. And it's not the body text, so you don't spend much time staring at it.

This guy here that I read ( <a class="user" href="http://www.mipsscan.com/2006/03/windows_xp_on_m.html">http://www.mipsscan.com/2006/03/windows_xp_on_m.html</a> ) said that he couldn't get XP to install on his Mac with Q but did with OpenOSX. He's got great screen captures too of OpenOSX in action.
