appleinsider.com — Charlie Miller, the security expert who won both this and last year's CanSecWest Pwn2Own security contests by exploiting Macs running Safari, repeated in an interview that he'd recommend Macs to typical users as a safer alternative to Windows PCs.

Um no. I live in Canada, and at no point while living here have I ever become aware of any perception that Mac owners are geeks. In fact most of the people I know that own Macs are a chicks and none of them are geeky, they`re all either good looking, or smokin hot.

If he recommends Macs for typical users, he needs to define "typical users". I'm seriously doubting that any substantial group of people will agree on what a "typical user" is.

The title is still accurate. They're safer because there isn't any exploits in use. They're also easier to crack, thus, you're second title "less secure" is also accurate. :pAnalogy:Your house is safer than your neighbours because you have deadlocks and bulletproof glass. Unfortunately you're the only one who needs to worry - you have a gold TV in your house while your neighbour is Amish. :P

ohh yeah let's open the code so that every hacker can see it... that will make it more secure\s

@bigsteveSort of. The access point was Safari, so Safari was at fault, but so was the OS for allowing that vulnerability to be exploited to gain user level access. There are security measures discussed in the article that make it much harder to turn a vulnerability into an exploit.

I never said it was or wasn't any particular software packages fault. It was most certainly the fault of Safari.Just that it is enough for the system to be cracked and used for malicious purposes.User level access, while not as bad as superuser access, is still unauthorized access.
