huffingtonpost.com— Robert Creamer: To Vilify Obama for his Ability to Inspire is to Ignore the Principal Lesson of the Last Three Decades of American Politics
Feb 19, 2008View in Crawl 4
Very well written. I understand people's desire for politicians to walk the walk (which Obama has), but they also have to be able to talk the talk. Inspiration is everything. Obama has the ability to create a new generation of Americans who will be inspired to GET THINGS DONE. In that way, inspiration isn't just about words, it's about a call to action.
First, "progressive" does not equal "socialist" and secondly, "socialist" does not equal "nanny state". It is a very Christian value to take care of those less fortunate than oneself or of those unable to take care of themselves. I for one would like to see more of THESE type of Christian values and less of the "let me tell you who to hate" Christian values.
"Duh, stoopid people like yew..." Not a very erudite response Feb20. Since you don't state what you DO support I can but extrapolate them from your "socialist" and "nanny state" remarks -- it is people like yourself, people who mindlessly tout "no new taxes," and the like (which also means no maintenance of our infrastructure, no improvement in our schools or in our healthcare, etc.) that have chipped away at our system until we are no longer a leader in those areas as we used to be. I understand why you feel threatened, though, left to dangle in the wind of a recession while your Republican betters laugh all the way to the bank with your money in their pockets. As for staying home in November, you make me laugh, insignificant one. I have voted in every election, local, state and Federal since I came of age. I regularly write my representatives, meet with them when they're in the district and dare say I'll still be involved and pushing for humanity in our government long after you've taken your ball and gone home pouting.
