As soon as time travel is discovered the government will regulate it, charge money for it, then more as it gets more popular to the point where only certain high class people will be able to use it and then some lowly hackers will discover it at spread it to the masses before being hunted down by government officials which will cause an uproar in the hacker community and they will attempt a coup of the one building where all time travel machines will be held and the sole survivor of the attack will travel back and destroy the one thing needed to make it work thereby killing himself.No it won't ever happen.

@ tipaFYI: Speed is a scalar as it indicates an object's rate of motion. Velocity is a vector as it indicates an object's rate of motion in a particular direction. Acceleration is the rate of change of Velocity.

david lewis has a multiverse solution too... but that's not really time travel, it's interdimensional travel. i think we all know what we mean when we talk about time travel, and my paradox still illustrates why these solutions are unsatisfactory: in this 'verse, you have a limited set of observable states.there's clearly no way for me to go back to *my* past, or to get info from *my* future; we can AT BEST interact with some playhouse facade that resembles our past or info from our future. and this experiment is just one way to illustrate: ANY info about the future is no better than wild speculation.

I think humanity as a whole has achieved a level of understanding about the universe and time in that 2 things can be accepted:1. There is no 4D.2. There is no way to "travel" through time.Wouldn't we have seen some examples of time travel had it been invented? Or maybe it was deemed "too dangerous" to go back in time and was never used...

We've long heard about the atomic clock experiment where one went up into space and the other stayed on earth. When compared the times were off...But, did anyone try also putting an atomic clock in space but in a stationary orbit? Perhaps gravity is affecting the decay and not speed?

pwozney, that's actually right and wrong at the same time. It's kinda the problem with measuring time travel. If we think of time as a dimension, then you have a displacement from the origin and velocity in the dimension. How do we measure velocity in the other dimensions? Well, it's delta displacement from origin/sec. I guess the time dimension needs a new denominator, or units just don't cancel out in this case.
