gamedrift.com — It seems that the PlayStation 3 is not only stalling here in the states, but back in Japan as well. Kotaku is reporting that PS3s are stacking up on shelves. Retailers are taking matters into their own hands and offering temporary price cuts of up to 10,000 yen ($82). I wonder how long till we see similar measures taken here in the US.

"Listen carefully kids. That is the sound of a dying console."And this "dying console" still outsold the XBox 360 by 3x in Japan... on the PS3's worse week of sales yet.-Pie

Sony has a history of holding back and then letting the cat out of the bag. Experts are already predicting that High Def DVD will replace DVD by 2010 and Sony can sit back and watch as Systems roll out slowly and then pick up speed as games and movies are released. People who say no one really cares about blu ray then they personally dont have money or a HDTV because Blu-ray is a big deal if you have a HDTV if you have invested in a HD set but dont have a HD signal your tv is just a wide screen SDTV. Most cable providers have between 20-30 stations and directv has 60-100 but movies still look like crap on a hd set. As for the wii it is kind of fun until you sweat yourself to death. But as more and more people buy hdtv's (20 million expected this year alone) the will with gamecube graphics will look terrible. This is a marathon not a race and dont compare systems or sales during the first 100 days. PS2 sold 60 million units after the 3rd year alone.

Lot of people in this topic can't seem to find PS3's? well just to give you an idea of what the current market in Atlanta, GA(5 + million metro residents, 570k+ official city residents). I was trying to find a DS for my little brother for god knows how long, so i was able to regularly check up on stores and their gaming stocks. Pretty much, what i've noticed is that the wii's are nonexistent(I dont even know where stores PUT wii's if they're shelved). PS3's were nonexistent till about new years time. and Xbox360's seem to be popular for pyramid building. But a couple weeks ago, the Townscenter Bestbuy(a large shopping area in metro atlanta) erected a pyramid of PS3's, there were a good 30 PS3's stacked in the center of the store next to the 360's. Obviously, the other stores, like target, etc have PS3's as well. The Wii is still MIA from atlanta. So i do think based on personal experiences, that the PS3 is having a very slow launch, even in comparison to the Xbox360 launch. (It's just not promising for Sony, when their console is widely available, and being used as pyramid fodder? demand is just not there). I thin kth emost damning fact, is that i went back to that best buy this sunday, weeks after the pyramid was made, and its still there, somewhat smaller, i think they moved six over behind the caged area. I can get pics.

Reality check: as of about 1:45 PM EST today, Amazon.com has both 60GB and 20GB PS3's for sale new, for regular retail price, directly from Amazon (not resellers in the "used & new" category.). Circuit City's website has no 20GB's online ("in-store only") but has the 60GB model available for order online. Both models are sold out at Best Buy's website.

This is absolutely true. I went to a department store called Seiyu few days ago and i was surprised they cut it off 10,000 yen on a 60GB P.S 3.http://pyramidsofgiza.org/
