That wasn't meant to directly compare aac to their mp3s though it does indeed read that way. It was meant to bring to attention that they offer higher quality downloads than other mp3 sites (though that's not hard to do unfortunately). My problem with AAC and FLAC for that matter is they are still not as widely supported as mp3. FLAC certainly has better compression than WAV and being lossless, obviously better quality than mp3, but until the players start supporting it it's unlikely we'll see these downloads available at any of the popular download sites.

A step in the right direction? Yes, but there's a big hole here. To get the DRM free hi-quality music, you have to pay more. It's still cheaper to buy the CD DRM free, and rip it at a compression of your choosing.The reason they picked the $.99 price was the idea that albums contained roughly 10 to 15 songs. They're intending to up the price and make more money, but it's not a good deal for the end user.Unrestricted media shouldn't be the premium version; it should be the standard. If they want me to sample gimped and restricted music at $.10 a pop to free, I get it. Otherwise, no way. The quality's still not acceptable at full price.
