I found the HL saga story guide very enlightening and the only reason I played HL2, the HL2 review that I read at netjak noted that after going thru the game you were left with too many unanswered questions and I got turned off to it until the HL saga story guide would fill in the blanks after the game. I was surprised to read a comment above that notes that the entire first box of the HL saga is false as the site creator validated the story on the site with "Original story written by Marc Laidlaw of Valve who pointed out the story being pretty darn accurate for the most part". But I hope that Episode 1 isn't soap opera drama and tie into the story very well thus far.

You can only change FOV if you enable cheats (sv_cheats 1) in the console (google HL console for details if you need them, sounds like you don't and know how to use the console and cvars/cmds.) So, it's only workable for single-player or your own multiplayer servers. That said, it's probably not the FOV making you sick. It's probably more headbob/player-model bounce and room lighting. Check the cvar lists to find the player roll/bob variables and set them to 0. Your view will be smoother and less sea-sicky. Also try putting a light (incandescent) above your monitor. See http://ask.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/03/13/2023231 and google "fps motion sickness" for more help. I used to get sick, no more. Same with my wife.Good luck. It's worth it. Once you get a setup that works for you it'll never happen again.

I must be one of the few people in the world who thought that HL2 sucked ass. It's a crap shooter on rails.
