I'm going to prepare for Snow Leopard by installing Ubuntu Server 9.04 at work. Seriously, I manage a complete Mac network at work. However, it's all PowerPC, and Snow Leopard is Intel only. What's wrong with that? We use custom software that runs under PowerPC, and co-incidentally Linux (as a server-based web-app), but *NOT* Intel Mac OS X. So, to move forward, I have to update our office to prepare for Linux. Not fun. The company that makes this software isn't interested in Macintosh anymore, so we must shift, too (far too complicated and costly to re-write, simpler just to change the server platform to Linux). At home, on the other hand, I will look forward to Snow Leopard.Okay, digg me down for my Pro-Linux comment.
According to Apple, +70% of the user base is on Intel. So it's not the big deal "some" are making it out to be.Leopard users probably won't be left out in the cold, either; Apple will likely update Leopard (regular) for security, iTunes, QuickTime and other such things for a while yet (as they did with Tiger).
Wow, negative diggs for mentioning replacing OS X with Ubuntu. I'm a Mac "FanBoy" and the negative diggs for that comment is still pretty offensive. Obviously I'm a different breed of MacBoy.
