I'm certain I'm going to be dugg down for this by twitch fingers, but I'll have to admit that Powerpoint 2007 focuses on a lot of these issues, as a result its, and I never thought I'd say this, absolutely gorgeous. It seriously feels like a Steve Jobs Presentation Generator, complete with mirroring reflecting effects, image handling, great looking templates, all at the click of a button. They've even got the transitions down and a lot of the fonts are finally done right.I'm almost certain that when Office 2007 finally replaces Office 2003 on the whole, many people will see the huge difference and laugh at all these digg articles. On the whole, this site is a Powerpoint 2003 killer, but it has nothing on 2007. As a Mac User as well, I might even say that 2007 does things in many ways better than Keynote.
Nice so long as you can save the final file, the last thing I want to do is go into an office to do a presentation and have to depend on their Internet pipe, and my access to it. In all reality I agree with the movement to simplify overhead slides in presentations. I convinced a co-worker to try using black text on a white background with no animations and simple transitions, and limit her headings. The result? It was a hit, she had people walking up and thanking them for giving a presentation rather than just reading from her presentation.
Yes...you can seemingly do more animations and such with this app, but overall it looks terrible. The site has horrid examples. If you were a professional trying to make a presentation for a worthy client you would have to do alot better than this.check out http://www.presentationzen.com for some excellent info about how to really make your presentations great.
Nothing can save you from a bad presenter or a bad presentation, but keynote is the differences between printing something on a inkjet, or getting it done at a printers with good paper stock and beautiful Pantone inks. What is a presentation? Text and GraphicsKeynote has superior text rendering, powered by the absolutely wonderful engine in OSX I can't praise it enough, when working I turn my Helvetica up to ridiculious font sizes just to enjoy how beautiful it can rendr my fonts before putting it at a sensible size :).on top of that you have ultra smooth image resizing, excellent alpha transparency support, clean high qaulity dropshadows you can use on text (much nicer than the shadows in flash, not that I condone the use of drop shadows at all).also a killer feature for people who really want to make an impact, Keynote can use Quartz composer files! so full dynamic 3D backgrounds / elements using the full power of your 3D hardware are available to you.You could do something really amazing with that sort of technology available.Keynote transitions look like they were put together in After Effects, they're so smooth and the rendering quality is really high.I'm sure powerpoint has some excellent data integration etc, but really data is too important to just be imported in a click, its design should be considered on an individual basis.Sorry there really isn't any competition, Powerpoint falls at the first hurdel with its bad text rendering.

You can create presentations for Opera similar to "Slidy" ones using projection stylesheets and DHTML. They are just webpages, so they will appear fine in other browsers, too. There was some horrible example presentations in the example sections. PowerPoint should be an animation-free zone unless you are hiding something

skara has it on the money: check out Office2007 and then talk about what the new PowerPoint can do. For that matter, the entire new Office2007 suite.
