This is largely due to the credit card industry and PayPal creating an atmosphere where it is essentially impossible to create a new porn website with anything resembling an affordable fulfillment system - over time, the forest has been thinning out, along with marketing.You simply *cannot* get a new adult credit card merchant account in the US anymore, you have to go overseas (like, to Greek-controlled Cyprus), and pay insane transaction and setup fees to the international arms of Visa, which is simply way too risky.This is side-effect of the massive amount of fraud committed by users of these sites, resulting in massive chargeback rates and fees in the sector.

I really doubt its less popular, its just that people have found other entertainment methods on the Internet besides porn. Its not going away. Way too much money in it.

Myspace is like softcore porn:Why would you want to see naked women you've never seen nor met before when you can log-in and look at every good looking girl you know doing the same thing on myspace?Also I wonder if there is a correlation between the amount of porn being watched and teenage or overall sex being had. Maybe more people are just getting laid? Girls are becoming easier? Guys are becoming more desperate? Maybe.
