blogs.zdnet.com — After the revelation that top Diggers are routinely offered payment by companies hoping to get their story onto the Digg's front page, is it time for the social news site to start compensating its top users? Also, check out Geek and Poke's brilliant Digg cartoon.

The only thing that paying people will do is: Promote people to get stuff to the front page with large groups of people to help them. The every day digger will be screwed because they do not have 50 people digging up there articles without reading.

Want pay? Get a job...wrong place to seek pay. I wonder how the "top diggers" become top diggers do they influence digg in to much...maybe they should be kicked off digg instead.

i doubt the type of person digg wants or needs to be the diggest, is someone who would expect material acknowledgment.

@Idealistic:Wikipedia doesn't show ads, isn't run for-profit. Digg does, is.
