In the case of Miranda vs The State of Arizona, a man was suing the state of not being informed of his rights after being arrested for rape. After grilling by police, he confessed to other crimes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miranda_v._ArizonaBy the Supreme Court's Decision, whenever someone is detained (i.e. not "free to leave at any moment") the detaining officer must inform the suspect of his "Miranda" Rights: the rights to attorney, silence, and the potential consequences of confession. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miranda_warningAfter all this, I will tell you mister Officer of the Peace: What in f**king hell were you thinking? I hope your children watch this video and ask why. Maybe then you will have some idea about the damage you've caused. I hope he sues you for all you have.
that cop was being a complete assh**e, Idk about Utah state law, but if you want you can challenge the ticket by marking on it, which is what the guy should have done, but that cop was way over the line. I can't believe the second cop was supportive of him...
How the hell do you know that you're "not required to sign any document in the U.S."? Each state has individual laws regarding this, and in Utah you're required to sign or you're arrested. He refused, so he was arrested.
YOU PEOPLE ARE MORONS! TASERS CAN'T KILL!! And that guy refused to sign his ticket, a CRIMINAL OFFENSE per the law. Maybe all the NON-LAWYERS who post their law opinions should do some research. A lone officer in the middle of who knows where dealing with two occupants, neither of which had been searched; perfect use of taser.

I mean seriously, do you understand how ironic it is, her only recourse is to call 911, but who is supposed to come save her? One of his friends...

It wasn't a "contract", it was a summons to appear in court and him signing it means he's acknowledged receiving the summons.
