guardian.co.uk — It was meant to be an imaginative way of highlighting how easy it is to break into people's homes – but police today faced criticism for posing as burglars and sneaking into the homes of unsuspecting residents and collecting valuables in "swag bags".

If you read the article, you would be aware that UK law allows the use of reasonable force to protect your property.Chasing people down the street and battering them into submission as revenge is frowned upon, sadly.

would be kinda surreal to wake up in the morning and see your dog chewing on a policemans foot, blood everywhere, and your laptop in a swag bag, still clutched in the cop burglars removed hand.

Actually you mean "exigent circumstances" which allows them to enter your house unannounced for just about any reason they want (not really, but there are some wierd cases) "Thought I heard screaming", "Thought there might be a known felon in there", "Sounds like they are flushing drugs", "Thought I smelled a fire", rather than probable cause which is what is needed to get a search warrant.

There's a reason they wear body armor when they do these sorts of things. Remember the US mayor that got mailed a box of pot, which was used as an excuse to raid his home, terrorize his family, and shoot his dogs?

SNL Called this on 10/11/1975. A skit with Dan Akroid as an insurance salesman. Breaks and to show how easy it was.

This is in the U.K., not the U.S.A.. I'm not saying we'd get all of them, but these idiots would've taken casualties.

Im sorry i must have missed the part where the article mentioned the police officers were attempting rape or even removing items from the property.Or is just another 'OH MY GOD HE SAYS GUNS ARE BAD BURY HIM'
