Kid has gained another meaning in midwestern hipster slang, and with the way the internet is spreading such colloquialisms, the number and cultures of people who use the other meaning are incredibly varied. But kid is essentially used for anyone who is of a familiar cultural group (age, work, etc).

Erase hard drive with a degauss coil ???Last I tried (a while ago) it was extremely difficult to destroy data on a hard disk by just subjecting it to a strong magnetic field, and destroying the electronics doesn't help either. You really need specialized software to randomize the information on the platters (there are a couple companies that specialize in this, it really isn't as easy as it sounds).

Charging money or not makes no difference. Remember Sharereactor? They are merely an indexing service for edonkey network. They were not charging for the service, but the site was still taken down, site operator was still arrested in Sweden and servers seized.
