Police-wielding tasers. how many of you have actually heard of or seen someone get tasered in real life. Few, if any. The problem is, you see a video online and you think it's an epidemic. It's like the shark attacks a few years ago... they were actually down when compared to previous years, but you never heard about them. Don't think that because you've seen a few videos, the world is being tasered to death. A *few* people have died. That goes for anything else. Besides, would you rather someone be tasered for having what could be a gun in the their hand, or shot center mass?
Sir, pain compliance is how you get someone to comply when they are resistant and combative. It's unfortunate, but it works. Surely you don't suggest that we get criminals to comply with ice cream. And just because it's in the hands of people whom we count on to provide safety to the citizenry doesn't automatically equate it as a weapon of fear.Nor was it ever DESIGNED to prevent people from questioning authority. Seriously, dental tools scare the hell out of me more than tasers. They are also low-tech, cheap, and extremely reliable. So why don't they just carry stuff like that instead? Because tasers were DESIGNED to be provide as little pain as possible in order to induce compliance. Now, if you want to argue the real life effectiveness of said design, that would be a different story. However, you're insisting that it's an implement for fear and torture instead, and that's simply untrue. And are you seriously comparing us with North Korea? Do you even know what you're saying?
Ironically, the accessibility of information in the internet era is part of the problem. You are basing your viewpoints on internet videos; something that you can search directly for while filtering out everything else. If I wanted to search for only information regarding the existence of bigfoot while ignoring any other contradictory data, I can do that as some kind of "proof" to my original bias that bigfoot must exist. However, it's also entirely possible that what is available on the internet isn't representative of the truth. How many videos have we seen of boring car stops where officers don't pull out their tasers, have a friendly conversation, and just we on our way? Better yet, why would be post that? It's boring, who cares, and some would just dismiss it as, "That's what the pig is suppose to do!"Bottom line: Basing your conclusions on what you've searched for and filtered through the internet is NOT representative of reality.

Would you rather they use guns to shoot people instead?
