slate.com — Forget Sony Classics. Try getting your film picked up by online movie pirates. Sundance films, present and past, simply do not register in the online pirate world—unless they are one of the few that have already made it big. This proves 2 things: Obscurity is the best defense and movie pirates are parasitic, not predatory.

This was a very poorly written one-sided article. The guy just explained the most obvious reason when talking about the heightened security and hired personnel to prevent piracy at these movies. It's obviously easier to do in a commercial theater. With the millions of people who download movies there are SURE to be plenty of people, myself included, who would love to see these movies. But how can you pirate that which cannot be pirated??

Yet, the Hollywood films still make money, despite the piracy and suckyness.

Dude, quit whoring you and your buddy's bofads.com stories and links. You spam every other story: http://digg.com/users/jizzlies/history/comments/pa ... Buried, blocked, reported.

I found a great film a couple years back, which won at Sundance, called Primer.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0390384/I liked it so much I bought the DVD. So I can see why he might want to get his film out there.

After seeing such a post somewhere, maybe it was on digg? I added it to my netflix queue and got it in just a few days. Really enjoyed the man from earth, not what I was expecting. But thought provoking, I really enjoyed it!
