Ever hear of DA converters ?Now I have to agree with your conclusion : there is no way a outdated DA converter could touch a well made, modern one. @therightcliqueThere are some "digital amplifiers" that are DACs and amplifiers combined into one chip. The heat loss on this type of Amplifier is very low compared to analog amplification, but most people have the same complaints about them that they do about all digital audio equipment, whether it is unfounded or not.

its not the RCA's its the DAC (digital to analog converter) that gives it great sound, but the RCA help by not runing the sound in the same cord as the video. Mick tells it better <a class="user" href="http://dogbreath.de/PS1/&quot;&gt;http://dogbreath.de/PS1/&lt;/a&gt; i didn't believe it ether till i tried it! my $7 pawnshop SCPH-1001 has replaced my $250 pioneer cd player. also i bought a ps2 remote with the eye that plugs in the controler hole and it works fine

i personally like single driver horns for HI-FI listening. less is more (less drivers= less x-over $$$ and less sound loss to capacitors and inductors)and more space taken up by those huge horns! but i am listening to a set of MTM speakers connected to a LM3875 gain clone amp and PS1 SCPH-1001 right now and im very pleased all for less than $300 (im a DIYer its WAY cheaper if you build it your self)

ya what he said! i happen to be an average income person like the average American and my ps1 sounds damn good with my gain clone LM3875 and Fostex FE207E horns. i built the amp RG6 connectors and horns myself and spent less than $350 for the whole system! my ears and wallet are happy :-)
