I have a copy of it, it used to be available for download on this old mac abandonware website which seems to have disappeared. I could send it to you if you provided me an avenue (e-mail, ftp, aim, whatever)
Does anyone have a copy of the version after this one? It was an animated version that worked with Mac OS 7. Came out around 91' ... I've been looking for it thru abandonware sites, but no luck. :/
aaa yes i actualy have this game on an old 386 computer that runs Windows for workgroups version 3.11 aa the good old computer and organ trail days back when black and white and DOS was the new and best thing! no im not that ols i do enjoy the old stuff thoue
For all of the other Mac users out there think it is a disgrace that our beloved Oregon Trail is only available for PC users, well I have a solution. As suggested by Xsuite, you need to download the emulator at <a class="user" href="http://apple2.intergalactic.de/">http://apple2.intergalactic.de/</a> After it is installed, drag the icon to your applications folder. Open up the file and you will see an icon for the emulator, roms, disc, and misc. You need to install 2 roms. The first one is here ftp://ftp.apple.asimov.net/pub/apple_II/emulators/rom_images/ . You need to copy the file named Apple.rom to the roms folder in the program. Then you need the second rom, ftp://ftp.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/msdos/emulate/apl2em.zip. Copy the disc.rom to the roms folder as well. Now you are ready to download the disk images from <a class="user" href="http://www.virtualapple.org/oregontraildisk.html.">http://www.virtualapple.org/oregontraildisk.html.</a> Scroll down to the very bottom of the page and download both files. Copy them in to the discs folder for the emulator (where the roms folder was). Now launch the program and you will see both Oregon Trail Disk 1 and Oregon Trail disk 2 listed under Action Games. Click on Disk 1 and click the "boot" button down at the bottom. You're ready to go! Feel free to ask for help if you get stuck!
Hey, I followed your advice and was very excited to see that Oregon Trail is now up and running, however, my question is: how do I change between disk on and disk 2? Everytime I do it I end up having to reboot the disk - am I just not doing it right? Thanks.
When you get the prompt to change disks, simply select Disk 2 from the list, then click the button labeled "1" (don't click "Boot"). This will insert Disk 2 into drive #1.
Im having trouble once I get to the second fort. It says insert disk 2.... i click disk 2 of 2 and press space bar and nothing happens. What should be done so I can finish this damn game?

GAWD! I remember why I hated this game. "good" health and only 2 movement clicks away from the end and out of nowhere, 2 people die. Screw that s**t.

If I could dig this 1000 times I would - this is cool enough, but the same site has Sneakers - a game I wasted hours and hours on. Probably the only reason I ever bought a NES. Man I'm old...<a class="user" href="http://www.virtualapple.org/sneakersdisk.html">http://www.virtualapple.org/sneakersdisk.html</a>
