I own a GP2X and its pretty awesome. Very handy. It plays nearly every Genesis game perfect. It also works great with gameboy, Nes, NeoGeo, MAME and many other systems. I don't think it is cheaply made at all. It feels good in my hands. I've had mine for a while and nothing has broke. Plus I got mine for $160 from an online retailer. (Playasia)The progress of the GP2X PSX emulation has been amazing. The first version was very slow but with every new version it is getting several frames faster. It will only be a while until most PSX games can be emulated at a playable rate. The coder on it is almost as dedicated as that person on the PSP writting the emulator for N64Also about the battery life. I've seen many stores that sell 2000-MAH-2500MAH battery recharger for $15 dollars. The 2500MAH batterys last about 6 hours playing Divx movie files.
I wouldn't try to sell the GP2X based on it's ability to emulate a PlayStation. I own one and I think it's really fun to play around with, and it does some great things. PSX emulation is just a bonus.
Great, I bought a GP32 last year, now the're is a GP2X. All I can really do I on my GP32 is play NES games... I was lied to by lik-sang.com saying it can play gameboy advance games.
reported as inaccurate...cause at that frame rate its not playable. Now while I Do agree this is still impressive, and perhaps even news worthy. Should say in the title that it runs 7fps, and is unplayable.
As an owner of a GP2x first edition, and regular edition (first edition was stolen), I can say that the buttons never fell off. The screen is interlaced, not cheap, so the occasional scan lines appear (every interlaced screen has this). Now they are shipping make2 units, which correct the interlaced screen (use non-interlaced screens) for anyone that considered it a problem. All hardware problems were fixed from the early release, and its a great system all in all.
guys, this isnt the psp get that in mind first, yes it might be able to play this stuff but face it psp is for games and the gp2x is some thing more creative, sony can lick my delicious nuts for all i care but other words this is THE most creative system in a while. what other system can you program, listen to mp3's, watch movies, and play some of the greatest games of all time on a hand held system for free? this system is definantly worth it and should be more commercial.
