torrentfreak.com — When Professor and media researcher Roger Wallis left the stand yesterday, the court asked whether he wanted to be reimbursed for his appearance. “You are welcome to send some flowers to my wife,” he responded. In the hours that followed, many Pirate Bay supporters took this suggestion to hand.

"">>>>>"Piracy hurts the independent, DIY artist even more than it hurts the corporate major label acts." """Then why are so many independent artists using the Internet to distribute their music?"This is your only response to this massive problem? The reason independent artists use the internet is because they dont have a choice. All the indi bands songs are on torrents to download too, and they are losing money to fund their band / music because of it.People like you have no idea what its like to try and make music for a living, you must think its easy, cheap and comes at no personal or financial cost. The reality is nothing like the fantasy world of " down with record labels etc "The record labels lend the bands the money to record / tour / advertise.Their is no moral or intellectual argument to how making a bands music worthless, can possibly benefit the band.Once again this is about people wanting something for nothing, and fitting their warped world views to try and justify their actions.

"Doing it is one thing... being caviler and prideful about it is another."The pride is completely understandable. The MAFIAA has been extremely arrogant, demanding that the rest of the world adapt to their outdated business models, and pushing new harsh laws on the people, pushing the silly notion that their copyrights are the most important things in the entire world.I just sincerely hope that more people would stop buying their goods. Without any customers, they wouldn't last many years.

Music? Why buy music when the only [accessible] vendors are the ones who's trying to slander his rep?

@init100You and I are may be closer in the way we see things than you may think. I understand why people are annoyed. Hell, as a consumer, I am annoyed myself. But its not just the "MAFIAA", its all the completely legit hard working people that make a living in the entertainment industry and just straight artist that someday hope to monetize their work in some modest way that I am trying to get everyone to consider... you know they exist, and in massive numbers. Creating a state where it is customary to discount their efforts is just unfortunate... and probably unnecessary.BTW,I don't think "MAFIAA" is far off, I have always refused to get caught up in the traditional recording industry. Its had a pretty vile history. Read "Hit Men" by Fredric Dannen and published way back in 1991 (not really new information then either). Clever people have know for a very long time that the whole thing was corrupt and needed to be brought down and replaced with something more supportive of the artist and the consumer. The thing that gets me is that the consumer has always ignored artists telling them that the record industry was messed up and ignored attempts to circumvent it. In a way, since many people still consume the same product... they are still playing into the hands of the old system and the people that got rich off them. They may realize it one day when every other song they download mentions a product and every movie is littered with branding. As I often say, the best protest would be to stop consuming their product."I just sincerely hope that more people would stop buying their goods. Without any customers, they wouldn't last many years."So you and I want exactly the same thing except if you condone still consuming the goods, then I am actually more militant about it. : )
