Yeah, Hello is pretty damn cool, before I got my own domain, I ran my blogspot totally with Hello and I never had to touch my browser to update it. It's really nifty.
This is nice, but consider Yahoo!Photos (beta version)...it's obviously way better. Unlimited storage, can do upload/download without losing quality, and FREE, it's more that Google is offering.
Your comparison is no good. You say 20mb/month = 240mb/year. Yeah sure, but what happens when you want to upload 100mb? You have to do it over a five month stretch. With Google you can upload, delete, upload, etc... all you want within the 250mb.
Besides the direct upload from Picasa (which granted, I LOVE), there are really no advantages of this over Yahoo photos - in fact Yahoo includes many services for you and your visitors to send the photos from the site directly to a local photo lab (Target, etc). Has the fading slideshow and all that. Plus Yahoo's got a brand new interface in testing right now as well.
Seems to work really really well. A couple of extra features might be nice (album in album etc). But what I'm really disappointed about with this new release is that they haven't fixed the only bad thing about picasa: the naming convention in batch editing. LEADING ZERO'S PLEASE!!!
Why don't you just create numerous account's with G-mail by sending yourself invitations, that way you won't have to worry about loosing space and being constrained by any limitations on how many picture's you can store. Also, I would recomend resizing your picture's before uploading to picasa web album. In my opinion

You don't need a invitation for Coppermine. Only a web host.http://coppermine-gallery.net/index.php
