i liked the plot behind Paycheck, which can pretty much be entirely attributed to Dick's writing, but the rest of the movie blew. and it definitely wasn't just ben affleck's acting. Paycheck was made into a typical hollywood action blockbuster. john woo is a great director for those sorts of movies, but not for film adaptations of sci-fi stories like Paycheck. i can assure you that that production was doomed for failure long before affleck was cast as the lead character.

After Dick criticized an early version of the script in an article in the Los Angeles Select TV Guide, the studio sent Dick the David Peoples rewrite.
