W00T! Way to go, Peru! Forests are one of the best buffers against many types of natural upheaval; they moderate weather and water cycles, trap carbon, and shade against blistering sun.

Read the article, buddy. If cap and trade systems are implemented... trees will be profitable for not being chopped down. That's some capitalism for you... innovative capitalism.

Imagine that - humans dedicated to creating and nurturing life as preferable to consuming and destroying it. Some human beings have known for quite a long time that working WITH the rest of nature is far more profitable than warring against it.It ought to come as no surprise that the descendants of the Incans would take the lead in that approach.
