miami.com — A Florida anti-war group's peaceful protest of military recruitment during last year's Fort Lauderdale Air & Sea Show was labeled ''subversive'' and was being monitored by the Pentagon, which kept a report on the protest in a database designed to track domestic terrorist threats. The Department of Defense says it was just an error and apologizes.

So they acknowledge their error and apologize, then they put the names into another, much more secret database, whose existence they may at some future point be force to admit, accompanied by another apology, and quite possibly, the surreptitious creation of another, ultra-ultra-secret database, etc, etc ad nauseum. No one will be held accountable in any sense; no reprimand, no termination, and of course, no criminal charges for any wrongdoing. Bureaucrats.

"In Germany, the Nazis first came for the communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, but I didn't speak up because I was a protestant. Then they came for me, and by that time there was no one left to speak for me."~ Reverend Martin NiemoellerLink: http://quotes.liberty-tree.ca/quote/martin_niemoeller_quote_3044

If there's another 9/11, you can bet the people on the dissident lists will get visits from their government.

People in power don't care about our liberty, they care about *their* liberty. It's the reason they seek power to begin with, because they think they're better than everybody else and possess natural attributes that qualify them to dominate other human beings. This is how aristocracies form. Unfortunately, these elitist "leaders" are just as fallable as the masses--and in fact, owing to their strange fascination with "bloodlines," are often the very nadir of depravity and incompetence--but are usually just too damnded egotistical to admit their mistakes. The historical pattern reveals that after amassing too much power, these people begin to formulate ever more ludicrous and grandiose ideas about what to do with the masses under their control, the result being that enormous numbers of innocent people begin to violently die.
