No they don't - at least not to the extent that is being reported here for the US.No system is totally perfect and proof against some kind of fraud. However, the old system where people tick a box against the candidate they want on a piece of paper then put the piece of paper in a box so someone can count up all the votes later works pretty well in these other countries. The reason americans have a problem is, firstly, being american they have an overwhelming need to replace something simple that works with something hi-tech that doesn't (remeber the story about nasa spending millions developing a zero-g pen, while the russians used pencils). The second reason is that in the US the officials who are charged with running elections are partisan appointees rather than elected officials. This is because the US has no concept of an independent non-partisan civil service (or judiciary for that matter). Therefore these election officials tend to behave corruptly.

I doubt Dubya hates anyone really...He just really really loves himself, money, and power.

And to further comment on this, you might be referring to the Occupational Tax increase passed, in 2004, but that was driven completely by the City of Pittsburgh effectively running out of money and on the brink of bankruptcy. So if you take my .20% figure, plus the extra $42 / year on the Occupational tax, you're paying an extra $142 / year in taxes, which is hardly the massive total you indicate.Besides, you think *Rendell* was solely responsible for this? How long has it been since PA had a Democratic House or Senate? The Republicans had to push this through and approve it.Frankly, I'm fine with the increased taxes, particularly because it means that the State is running in the black again, after having several years of running solidly in the Red under Republican Governorship. So what else? The Turnpike toll increase? That's not a State-level issue, that's driven completely by the commission itself.

So the Democrats who won in Pennsylvania were cheating?

@aarons44"It's mostly a Red state, usually goes Red for the President, but does have some blue areas that sometimes end up in state Congress. Specter and Santorum are both from there, both hard leaning Republicans."You are clueless!!!!Pennsylvania was a blue state in 2004, 2000, 1996, 1992 What - are you just making this crap up as you go along?
