digitaldaily.allthingsd.com — Palm, whose new Pre handset, though built around a different paradigm than the iPhone, boasts some remarkably iPhone-like features. Palm, a company who?s reinvention is being stewarded by Jon Rubinstein, once Apple?s head of hardware engineering and a guy with an undoubtedly deep knowledge of Cupertino?s R&D process.

You think Apple is sitting on it's hands? Apple has a LOT of funds to throw into R&D, that's one of the reasons why most hardware releases have something 'innovative' to the market (however their innovation is sometimes flawed in some way but it's new, eg. unibody, 8hrs battery life - non-removable on a 17" laptop etc). The next iteration of the iPhone is well underway, we'll probably see it in a couple of months.

Maybe, but in the end, it's still just a pointy stick. This could very well be Palm's final push before oblivion.

Awesome! Even though I am typing this on a MBP, I love to see Apple throw a fit when some sort of real competition presented to them. The funny thing is that they only know how to deal with this type of thing in one way: law suit. The truth is that the Palm Pre obviously seems like a superior device and Apple is scared s**tless.

Even if you hate apple you have to agree that the iPhone is pretty innovative.

@supermanKD RE: " They have a good chance of breaking into the business users market, especially with the poorly executed Blackberry Storm never mind the Windows mobile s**t show. As much as I am an iPhone fanboy they picked a good target market and I wish Palm the best. "Agree on all points.
