And #5, put it out on AT&T! I will buy this phone in a second. I have had every Treo since the 250 and want this so bad but will never ever switch to sprint.

Stating Palm was on their death bed is quite a stretch. It is to be expected the company would take a hit with the relaese of the G1 and the Blackberry Storm around the same time, but palm has blesses me with a touchscreen smartphone for over 5 years now and Blackberry has just now released a touchscreen phone, what were they waiting for? I think Palm will have a few things to show the G1 and Storm. Althought the G1 has a keyboard it's just plain ugly, and to bad the Blackberry got rid of the keyboard. I have no dought the Pre will surpass them both in form and functionality!

It's definitely a cool device, but it's ability to save Palm will come down to cost. They should try to offer this as cheap as possible to achieve as large a market penetration as possible. Let's see if their marketing department is as savvy as their techies.

"If you think iPhone 1.0's sandbox was restrictive wait until you see the palm pre"I'll really be pushing for Palm to release a full SDK the same way I did Apple. That being said the Pre seems to be providing more OS hooks which should allow for more powerful apps.

Why can't they sell phones like this at $200-$300? The iPod touch starts at $229 for the 8GB model. While I understand that a phone has more components to add in, that shouldn't add more than $100 to the cost unless broadcom charges some really f**king ridiculous royalties.

The rounded corners are there because applications are "cards" -- which have rounded corners.
