Interesting how much grief Apple got about those crappy Web apps, and now along comes Pre with... crappy Web apps. Call it a Web OS, and the fanboys cheer!
Yet again you remind us all why the geeks simply don't have a damn clue what makes a phone truly successful. Do you HONESTLY believe if you walked up to your parents, or anyone else over 30, and explained that "multitasking" made it superior to the iPhone they would even have a damn clue what you were talking about? Do you all somehow STILL not realize what makes the iPhone such a gigantic success? It's CLEARLY not the most technically advanced phone - in fact I would say that it's far from it. You keep on chanting about the lack of bluetooth stereo support, multitasking, bluetooth file transferring, removable batteries, and so on. THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE COULDN'T CARE LESS ABOUT IT! They want a phone that's EASY and FUN to use. THAT'S IT. If multitasking was so important WHY THE HELL is the iPhone, a device that doesn't come close to doing that, slowly outselling every other handset manufacturer (when their phones can do that). A phone with multiple applications running will slow it down, suck the battery MUCH faster, and take away from the overall experience of each running app. If I told all of you about the strict specifications of the iPhone, and listed all of it's restrictions (which it has more of than any other device), you would laugh me out of the room! And that's exactly why it took SO long to finally get a phone to the market that people truly love.
Actually, the iPhone does multi-task. For example, you can play a music track from your play lists and browse the web at the same time.I think what is confusing people RE the iPhone's abilities is that multi-tasking is NOT currently supported by the SDK, and hence 3rd party apps available on the App Store can't (currently) multi-task and stay resident. This is something the next version of the iPhone SDK is meant to be addressing.
RE games on the Pre :"... the nature of the SDK (which will be available to anyone) means that things like 3D games will be hard (if not impossible) to pull off, which could be a big blow to a burgeoning developer community, considering how well games have done in the App Store."

400$ has always been the price point for the top-level iPods, and people eat that s**t up. 400 for an unlocked phone of this caliber isn't a bad deal.

If the Palm Pre is sold in a similar way as the Samsung Instinct (re the data plans), then no... it will not be available to SERO subscribers.
