gizmodo.com— so far today there are eight pages of discussion over at the Precentral forums, where most of the affected users report similar circular distortion at the bottom of the Pre's otherwise sharp-looking screen.

I dont get where these complaints come from. I had mine charged to 95% yesterday at this time and its at 50% now. I used it throughout the day. These people must be using them for hours on in solidly.
@badqat: About as smart as apple being ATT only, right? You know, since ATT isn't even supporting some of the new features mentioned in the keynote today :\
Thank God for the Palm OS emulator.. because my first look at the apps store didn't reveal much interesting. I took a look at the Pre earlier this week and much of what you would do on a cell phone is there... already on the phone. But the list of additional applications was not impressive. I know its just the beginning but Palm will need a lot of work to get an apps list that is even in the same ballpark with Apple and RIM. In addition, the touch screen hampered what I came to love with my Treo. My first impression with a vicinity touch screen wasn't impressive. Rather than selecting a point, you are selecting a a region about the size of the end of your index finger. Fat fingering might have gone away but precise selection doesn't appear to be possible. This means that most of the apps were handicapped by the need to have data entry through the touch screen. A stylus, keyboard and a character based entry screen on the Treo was replaced with 5 huge buttons that could only enter basic information. Gone are the drop down menus, customization and other features you'd see on a regular computer. Of course, if you had this, how would you select it?? I suspect this will make using those old PalmOS apps next to impossible as selection of data and small buttons just aren't possible. I tried browsing the web and this was a huge pain. You had to zoom in at least 3 times to get items on the page large enough so you could reliably select them. I really wanted to use a stylus to see if this made selection better but sadly my Treo was in the car. I guess this is why apps are so popular on the iPhone. I suspect it has the same issues trying to browse the web! This isn't to say the Pre is a bad smartphone. I loved the user interface and the web browser was fast and easy to read (even if selection is next to impossible). The applications that were there looked good and worked well. I loved the the card setup and the ability to swipe and zoom in on stuff. I'm still planning on getting a Pre (on a waiting list now). But I'm really afraid this is not a PDA replacement.
