Turns out she didn't pose for Newsweek. The photographer who shot the picture for RUNNER'S WORLD violated his contract by reselling it to Newsweek.

They chose the most provocative image they could find that would stir up the emotions of the public without giving any caption that would correctly reference the image used. This was a PR ploy to sell magazines.

Hey, I'm mad that they did this basically to bash Palin but at least she's easy on the eyes. Imagine Michelle or Hillary in that ensemble, blech.

Meacham is in large part responsible for the decline of Newsweek from a respected news weekly to a left-leaning political opinion rag. Unfortunately for him, people don't pay for political opinion pieces when they can get all they want for free on the internet. The death of journalism will bring down this publication which, ironically, contributed to the downfall of journalism.

I'm surprised that right wingers aren't outraged that she is resting her arm on a crumpled, disrespected American flag in the photo...at least they didn't have her standing on it.
